A Viking Find in North Wales: Bucket List Item Achieved
The Viking period in Britain has always fascinated me, and finding something Anglo-Scandinavian has long been at the top of my bucket list.
Living in North Wales, I honestly didn’t expect to come across anything from that era. But while detecting on a hillside covered in old pasture, I uncovered a truly rare item — a Late Viking horse harness cheek piece.
It’s beautifully decorated in the Ringerike style, featuring a coiled serpent or dragon creature.
This discovery is a huge achievement for me — a big tick off the list!
