What is Pro-Switch technology?
PRO-SWITCH technology is the latest single-frequency VLF technology that allows the user to switch transmission frequencies to optimize performance. It gives detectorists the ability to adjust frequencies to move away from noise or optimize detection capability when searching for specific metallic targets. Park and Field modes include selectable frequencies of 5kHz, 10kHz and 15kHz. Beach modes include a single 8 kHz frequency for high salt mineralization.
Is Multi-IQ technology better than Pro-Switch technology?
In most detection situations, MULTI-IQ will provide superior results when compared to PRO-SWITCH. There may be situations where PRO-SWITCH technology can work as well as MULTI-IQ. This will depend on how the user has optimized the detector settings. Multi-IQ will provide maximum performance in all situations as the internal processor does all the hard work. PRO-SWITCH relies on the user to ensure the detector is configured for its optimal performance capability

Yes, the Minelab X-TERRA PRO metal detector is waterproof. Both the control box and coil can be submerged up to 5 meters (16 feet) deep. How does the X-Terra Pro's performance compare to the Vanquish series?
The X-TERRA PRO is a solid single frequency performance detector that has the ability to switch frequencies without the need to change hardware. Performance is similar in some circumstances, but will differ depending on soil mineralization levels, but more specifically the composition of each target and the frequency the X-TERRA PRO is transmitting. Target ID numbers are generally not as stable as MULTI-IQ target ID numbers.
What frequency should I choose when detecting with the X-Terra Pro?
This will depend on what targets you want to find. It is expected that when running a lower transmit frequency on the X-TERRA PRO, performance on high conductors containing silver or copper will provide similar depths to MULTI-IQ detectors. , when running a higher transmit frequency in the X-TERRA PRO, performance on lower gold-containing conductors provides similar depths to MULTI-IQ detectors.
How does the X-Terra Pro perform on the beach or in salty conditions?
On the beach, in salty conditions, most single-frequency detectors struggle with mineralization. The X-TERRA PRO offers unprecedented performance for a single frequency VLF detector in salty conditions.
Can I use wireless headphones with my X-Terra Pro?
Yes, you can buy the Minelab ML85 or ML105 headphones as they are both compatible with the X-TERRA PRO.
What are the differences between the detection mode search profiles?
Park 1 provides a standard transmission frequency of 10 kHz and is optimized for detecting modern coins and larger jewelry. This is a good way to learn the X-TERRA PRO before experimenting with other settings.
Park 2 provides a standard transmission frequency of 15 kHz and is optimized for detecting fine jewelry and smaller targets in trash-infested areas. The recovery speed in Park 2 is increased to clearly identify good targets masked by iron junk.
Field 1 provides a standard transmission frequency of 10 kHz and is optimized for modern coin detection and general detection. It has high impurity rejection, making it an ideal detection mode for areas containing coke.
Field 2 provides a standard transmission frequency of 15 kHz and is optimized for locations with high densities of targets and trash. This mode is great for coins on the edge or at great depths. It has high impurity rejection, making it an ideal detection mode for areas containing coke.
Beach 1 provides a standard transmission frequency of 8 kHz and is optimized for dry and wet sand. Beach 1 mode has a slower retrieval speed for better depth on all targets and is good for detecting small to large coins and jewelry.
The Beach 2 provides a standard transmission frequency of 8 kHz and is optimized for underwater use where a very strong salt signal is present. To compensate for the high salt content, Beach 2 has a lower transmission power. Beach 2 has a higher recovery speed to help with saltwater rejection. It can also be used on dry and heavily mineralized soils
How long does the lithium-ion battery last on a single charge?
Typical runtime from a full charge using wired headphones is approximately 16 hours. The X-TERRA PRO detector can also be powered directly from any USB Power Bank that supports 0.5A or 2A (@5V) output capability. This effectively provides continuous runtime limited only by the capacity of the power bank.
Should I wash my X-Terra Pro detector after using it at the beach?
Yes. It is good practice to wash the detector with clean, fresh water after detecting in the water or at the beach. Never use abrasives or solvents to clean the detector. Whenever washing or using your detector underwater, always make sure the plastic cap on the back of the control pod is screwed securely onto the earpiece.

In deep water or fully submerged, we recommend using only Minelab waterproof headphones. They have a specially designed connector that forms a waterproof seal when used with the X-TERRA PRO. These headphones are available as accessories (Part Number: 3011-0372).
